L. Joy Hines
L. Joy Hines, 86, formerly of Mountain Home, died of natural causes in Spokane, Wash., on Jan. 14, 2008.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
She was born on July 19, 1922, in Seattle, Wash., to J. Gordon and M. Florence Bennett, while her father was serving there in the Navy. She returned home to Mountain Home at the age of two and was raised here, graduating from Mountain Home High School in 1940.
She married Fred L. Hines on March 1, 1941. They lived together on the Hines family ranch at Mountain Home until his death in 1997.
She worked for many years in Civil Service at Mountain Home Air Force Base and later worked for the city of Mountain Home as the librarian until her retirement.
She went to live near her daughter, Ann, in Spokane six years ago.
She is survived by: her children, James (Susan) Hines of Mountain Home; John (Ruth) Hines of Montana and Arizona; Ann (Chuck) Hively of Spokane, Wash., and Joe Hines of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie (Ken) Newman of Idaho and Arizona, and La Rue Jackson of Arizona, five nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Donations may be given in her name to the public library book fund.
