Billy Day
William "Billy" Leonard Day, 58, of Mountain Home, died Jan. 13, 2008.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Amazing Grace Church, 6635 Airbase Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
William was born April 16, 1949, in Mountain Home. He was raised and schooled in Mountain Home and graduated in 1967 from Mountain Home High School.
William joined the Army in January 1968 and had basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash., and then went to Fort Knox, Kent., for further training. He was later sent to Okinawa and served as an MP until his discharge in December 1969.
Billy became a journeyman electrician and journeyman for heating and air conditioning.
He went to Alaska in March 1977 and then came back to Mountain Home in 1987, when he started his own business, Day Services.
Billy loved to hunt, fish and take long drives in the mountains, his family said, noting that when he was 55 years old he and a friend climbed to the top of Steel Mountain.
Billy is survived by: his parents, Bill and Pat Day of Mountain Home; his brother, Dan, and his wife, Charlene, of Mountain Home; his sister, Karen, and her husband, Peter Kahlke, of Boise; and six nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred.
