Joyce Swenson
Joyce P. Swenson, 81, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at her home, with her family at her side.
A viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Joyce was born on March 10, 1926, in Salem, Ill, to Hammond and Pearl White. At a young age her family moved to Chicago, where she grew up and graduated from Marshall High School.
She started her civil service career in Chicago and later moved to California, working at Travis AFB, where she met and married Howard Swenson.
Howard and Joyce moved to Mountain Home in 1967 and Joyce continued to work at Mountain Home AFB. She retired in 1988 with 30 years of civil service.
Some of her interests included fishing, travel and spending time with her family. Proudly and with help from her family and friends, she was able to live independently with Macular Degeneration for several years, her family noted.
Joyce is survived by: her daughter, Martha, and her husband, Dan Hazelbaker, of Mountain Home; her sister, Martha Restarski of Mountain Home; her brothers, James Brown of Salem, Ill., Hammond White, Jr., of Winfield, Ill., and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, and her son, John.
