Kansas man killed in I-84 accident

An early morning roll-over accident on I-84 claimed the life of a Kansas man Monday, who was traveling together with a relative and enroute to Oregon.

Initial reports from Elmore County deputies confirm that Garett W. Clarkson, 27, of Desoto, Kansas, was driving westbound near milepost 100 when the accident happened at approximately 6:45 a.m. this morning.

An uncle, Billy J. Clarkson, also from Kansas, was traveling ahead of Clarkson in a separate vehicle when he reportedly glanced in his rear view mirror to see the other vehicle drifting off the road then suddenly jerking back on the roadway.

The nephew was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and went off the road and overturned.

Clarkson died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

Elmore County deputies are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident
