Patricia McGuire, 88
Patricia Margaret McGuire, 88, of Glenns Ferry, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at her home.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, July 12, at Glenn Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Patricia was born on May 9, 1919, in National City, Calif., the daughter of Ella Dorkas Akin and James Arthur McGuire. She grew up in King Hill, Idaho, and Seattle, Wash.
She stopped attending high school just one month before graduating, stating "life is too much fun."
Patricia was a waitress all her life and worked in coffee shops and restaurants from Alaska to Montana, and in Glenns Ferry for 25 years, "serving people's needs, with a smile and a clever comment," her family said. "When they left this wonderful woman they usually had a smile of their own and a chuckle in their heart.
"She was very talented. In her 70s she poured her heart into beautiful oil paintings. Her forte was horses. She was such a loving spirit and full of the right stuff, nonjudgmental and very humble. We are going to miss her," her family said.
Patricia is survived by: her daughter Nancy Loree Wilcke of Glenns Ferry; her son-in-law, Brent E. Wilcke of Covina, Calif., four grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be sent to Nancy Loree Wilcke, P.O. Box 634, Glenns Ferry, ID 83623.
