Maxine Allen, 71
Maxine M. Allen, 71, of Mountain Home died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at her home, with loved ones by her side.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation will be under the direction of Rost Funeral Home.
Maxine was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Eudora, Ark., to William George and Minnie Lee Rhodes. She had 12 siblings.
She married Elmer D. Allen on Aug. 25, 1962, in Reno, Nev.
Maxine loved to travel and spent time in Japan, the Philippines and Mexico. She RVed around the United States for years. She loved to sew, play Kismet, pull the one armed bandit, visit with family and friends, and cook an "awesome pot of beans, ham hock and corn bread," her family said. Maxine treasured her family and beloved dog, Sassy, above all else, they added. "She will be missed beyond words."
She is survived by: her husband of 45 years, Elmer; her daughters, Linda Halliday of Bullhead City, Ariz., Deborah Thornhill and her husband, Ron, and son Mark Steele and his wife, Barbara, of Mountain Home; her sister, Bobbie Foreman and her husband, Dave, of Oakland, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and "a multitude of friends."
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William George and Minnie Lee Rhodes, her sons, Michael and Robert Franks, and a daughter, Sandra VanBerckelaer.
