Rufus Pollard, 72
Rufus B. Pollard, Jr., 72, of Mountain Home, died March 17, 2007, in a Boise hospital after a brief illness.
A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
The youngest son of Rufus Pollard, Sr., and Catherine Huff Pollard, of Kansas City, Mo., "Poppie" was born in Marshall, Mo., the township of Sweetsprings, on Aug. 28, 1934. He was reared in Kansas City, Mo., until he joined the military.
Rufus served 26 years with the United States Air Force retiring in Mountain Home in 1982 with his wife of 35 years, Myrtle Darlene. She preceded him in death in May 1993. Born to their union were four children, Christina, Steven, Carlton, and Rufus III.
Pollard was active with the Prince Hall Masons and the Order of The Eastern Star, and was a Past Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter Officer, as well as holding different positions in the local lodge -- Sabre lodge #7 and Alfred E. David Chapter #8 OES of Mountain Home.
He is survived by: one daughter, Ms. Christina L. Walker, of Mountain Home; three sons, Steven A. of Baltimore, Md., Carlton E. of Boise, and Rufus III and his wife, Kelly, of Mountain Home, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
