Clara Fisher, 92
Clara C. Fisher, 92, of Glenns Ferry, died Monday, March 19, 2007, in a Gooding care center.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.
Born on Dec. 8, 1914, in Fayetteville, N.Y., Clara was the last of three daughters of Edward and Elizabeth (Stearns) Markle. "Coming from hearty English and sturdy German stock her 92 plus years are a tribute to our heritage," her family said.
She was schooled in Fayetteville and graduated from high school in 1933. It was her passion to be able to recite the names of every one of her teachers and most of her classmates from grade school through high school, as well as those individuals she met in her daily life, her family said.
Clara lived in Fayetteville until 1962, when she moved to California, and then to Las Vegas, Nev., where she resided for 35 years. In 1997 she moved to Glenns Ferry to be closer to her daughter. Glenns Ferry became home to Clara because it was so much like the "village" of Fayetteville, her family said.
Clara enjoyed reading short stories and her weekly beauty shop visits that were followed by lunch out with her granddaughter in-law. "Besides her family she was most excited to talk about the many, many trips throughout the world that she was able to take," her family said.
She was a life long Episcopalian and a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and the Three Island Senior Center in Glenns Ferry.
Clara is survived by: her daughter Mary and her husband, Bob Hall, of Glenns Ferry, her daughter Lois and her husband, Stanley Jones, of Odessa, Texas, her son Stuart and his wife, Fran Nielson, of Cleburne, Texas, her son Robert and his wife, Dian Nielson, of Pahrump, Nev., 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, two sisters, one grandson, and one daughter in-law.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Clara's memory to the American Heart/Lung Association, 270 S. Orchard, Boise, ID 83705.
