Martin D. Waters, 49
Martin D. Waters, 49, of Crescent City Calif., formerly of Mountain Home, died of cancer on Saturday, March 10, 2007.
He was cremated in California and his ashes will be scattered in a special place in Idaho.
Martin (Marty) was born in Mountain Home, on Aug. 16, 1957.
A 1975 graduate of Mountain Home High School, Marty was a member of the Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department and a former editor of the Mountain Home News.
"Marty saw life as a beautiful journey and an adventure," his family said. "His experiences took him many places, but above all he loved people and helping people. He loved life, loved people, and most of all loved family and friends."
He earned a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology in 2000 from Alliance University of California in Fresno, Calif. He did his internship at the VA hospital in Reno, Nev.
In September of 2001, he and his wife Julie moved to Shelton, Wash., to complete his post doctoral training, and in 2002 the moved to Crescent City, Calif., which he called "Heaven on Earth."
He worked for Pelican Bay State Prison until his death.
He is survived by: his wife, Julie; one daughter, Crystal Gunderson; two stepchildren, Stacy and Shaun Fitzgerald, both of Boise; six siblings, his brother, Wayne Waters, and sisters, Coleen Swenson and Marla Kessel of Mountain Home, Pam Bromley of Kuna; Julie Humphreys of Sunnyside, Wash., and Lorraine Kunze of Maple Valley, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard and his parents Lloyd and Vivian Waters.
