Lucille Acuff, 76
Lucille Anne Acuff, 76, of Mountain Home, died at her home on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006.
A viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m. for family and friends on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. No funeral services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Lucille was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Walsenburg, Colo., the daughter of Joseph and Kate Fabiney.
She was raised in Walsenburg and graduated from Walsenburg High School.
In 1949, she married Vern R. Acuff in Colorado Springs, Colo. She followed Vern through his military career, working as a hair dresser at various military base beauty shops. Lucille and Vern moved to Mountain Home in the summer of 1969.
Lucille enjoyed bingo, bowling, crocheting and watching all sports. She was an avid sports fan, her family noted.
She was also a member of the Mountain Home Elkettes.
"She loved her children, her grandchildren and her dog, Missy. Besides a mother, she was a best friend," her family said.
Lucille is survived by: her mother, Kate Fabiney; her five sons, Jay and his wife, Alice Acuff, of Mountain Home, Gary Acuff of Mountain Home, Chris Acuff of Mountain Home, Donald and his wife, Joyce Acuff, of Marysville, Calif., Vern "Toot" Acuff and his friend, Karen, of Boise; a brother, Joe Fabiney of Minnesota; a sister, Judy Archelta of Walsenburg, Colorado; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vern, and her father, Joseph.
