Jim Smith, 79
James "Jim" B. Smith, 79, of Mountain Home, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at a Boise hospital.
A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.
Jim was born Oct. 22, 1926, in North Little Rock, Ark., the son of James B and M. Frances Smith. He was raised and lived in North Little Rock until joining the Air Force in February 1952.
Jim married Shirley B. Peterson, Sept. 19, 1959, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
After 20 years of service and much traveling, he retired in Mountain Home in February 1972.
Jim was employed for 15 years with Mountain Home law enforcement, as an Animal Control Officer, which he retired from on Oct. 31, 1988.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter until his health stated to fail.
Jim was a member of the Elmore Lodge #30, AF& AM, Past High Priest of Royal Arch Mason, Chapter 24, El Korah Shrine, Past Royal Patron of Emerald Court #64, Order of the Amaranth, a Past Grand Royal Patron of the Grand Court of Idaho Order of the Amaranth, and he also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Shirley, of Mountain Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, his daughter, Karon Smith, and his son, James "Jimmy" Smith.
