Jim Shoulders, 76
James "Jim" A. Shoulders, 76, of Mountain Home, died May 9, 2006.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 15, at the First Southern Baptist Church. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Jim was born on Aug. 16, 1929, in Big Springs, Texas, the son of Kinder and Lola Shoulders. Jim graduated from high school in Big Springs and then entered into the U. S. Air Force.
Jim spent 22 years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.
He married Virginia Pursell while stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in 1961. They were transferred to Travis Air Force Base, when Jim retired the first time.
He worked on heavy equipment for Solano County, for 14 years before retiring a second time.
Jim and Virginia sold their farm in California and returned to their home in Mountain Home in 1986.
"Jim was always able to fix anything that had a motor and could be found most every day tinkering in his garage," his family noted.
Jim loved to fish and this he did, as much as possible, up until his death. Jim was very active in church and over the years, spent many hours helping the church in every way that he could."
In a previous marriage, he had two sons, Michael and Bobby.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Virginia, of Mountain Home; his two sons, Michael Shoulders of California, and Bobby Shoulders of northern Idaho; four stepsons, Robert L. and his wife, Rose Pursell, John W. "Bill" Pursell and David J. and his wife, Mary Lou Pursell, of Mountain Home, and Stephen E. Pursell of Oregon; one sister, Juanita Gay of Texas, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grand- children.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother.
