Barbara Meredith, 72

Barbara R. Meredith, 72, of Mountain Home, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006.

Services were held Monday, Jan. 23, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial followed at the Bruneau Cemetery.

Barbara was born July 17, 1933, in Brighton, Tenn., to Samuel and Jewel (Spencer) Matthews. At a young age her family moved to a farm near Vanndale, Ark.

She graduated from Vanndale High School in 1951.

On Feb. 14, 1953, she married John Meredith, whom she had known all her life. The union produced four children, Debby, Becky, Mike and Judy.

She followed her husband during his Air Force career, which included trips to France and Germany, where they traveled extensively.

They retired from the military in 1975 and settled in Mountain Home.

"She was a loving wife, and mother and will be greatly missed," her family said.

She is survived by: her husband, John; daughters Debby Meredith, Judy and her husband, Ron Homa, all of Mountain Home, Becky and her husband, Jerry Washburn, of Arizona; a son, Mike and his wife, Elaine Meredith, of Twin Falls; a brother, James Ray Matthews of Missouri; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ernest and Dan Matthews.
