Betty Prescott, 88
Betty Kathleen Hutson Prescott, 88, of Mountain Home and Hammett, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at a local hospital.

Internment was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Wendell Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Demarays Funeral Service in Gooding.
Betty was born in Buhl, Idaho, on Oct. 6, 1917. Early on she moved to Greenleaf and then to Delta, Utah, and spent two years in San Diego, Calif.
In 1929, her father built one of the first motor homes and she and her family traveled extensively, touring many places, including Canada.
Her family moved to Boise, then later to Wendell in 1930.
She attended Wendell High School where she excelled in sports, mainly basketball, and graduated in 1935. That same year she marred her husband of 69 years, Dean Prescott.
In 1941 the couple moved to Boise where she raised five children.
Along with raising her family, Betty was a long-time member and officer of the Western Riding Club, where she was more times than not pushing a stopwatch.
In 1986, the couple moved to Hammett where Betty was an active member of the Three Island Senior Center for many years.
She loved camping, fishing and above all, people, her family said, adding that "she was a devoted mother, Nanny, and Nanny-Great. Her memories will be cherished by all." Also included in her life was a special lifelong friendship with Clate and Grace Hartwell and family, spanning 70-plus years.
Betty is survived by: her children, Jimmy Lee and Lynda Prescott of Hammett, Katherene Caroll and Pat Ryan of Waikoloa, Hawaii, Barbara Jean and Tommie Giddeon of Wichita, Kan., Billy Heber and Sharon Prescott of Williard, Utah, and Jody Hill of Mountain Home, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, a son and a brother.
