Lucy Pendergraft, 90
Lucy W. Pendergraft, 90, of Glenns Ferry, died Dec. 17, 2005, at a local care center.
A memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Lucy was born the daughter of Jesse Blair and Margaret (Bilbrey) West in Cane Hill, Ark., on Aug. 13, 1915.
Lucy attended schools in Westville, Okla., where she met the love of her life. They were high school sweethearts, she the football queen and he the captain of the team. Lucy and Wesley "Wes" Pendergraft were married March 12, 1934.
Early in their marriage they fled the Oklahoma dust bowl and settled in Whittier, Calif., where they raised their family. In 1952, they moved to Grass Valley, Calif., where Lucy was a homemaker.
"She love to have big family dinners," her family said. "She was an excellent cook, she loved to garden and knit. Wes and Lucy had 71 wonderful years together. A favorite memory is of the many summer vacations at Yosemite Park with the family and many aunts, uncles and cousins."
Lucy is survived by: her husband, Wes Pendergraft; a daughter, Judy, and her husband, Bill Andrews, all of Glenns Ferry; a daughter, Barbara Behrbaum, and a daughter, Peggy, and her husband, Nick Giardina, all of California, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, seven brothers and five sisters.
