Sloan again leads cross-country team
Brandon Sloan once again led the Mountain Home Tiger boys cross country team when they competed at the Tiger-Grizz cross country meet at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls last Friday.
Sloan ran his season best time of 17:48, and was the 13th runner to cross the finish line in the boys competition.
Scott Riley ran a 19:22, which placed him 62nd. Tim Whitmarsh ran his season best time of 21:20, which placed him at 121, Victor Werner came in at 148, with a time of 23:16, and Nico Pinque finished at 151, running a 24:14 on the 5,000 meter course.
Boise won both the boys and girls competition. The Mountain Home boys finished 16th out of 21 teams competing.
Coach Root ran his young girls squad in the junior varsity race, where they finished 13th overall. Jesse Cameron led the Mountain Home girls, finishing 36th, with a time of 26:27, beating teammate Kelcie Robinson by one second. Piper Coffin came in 101, with a 30:30 time, Ariel Strasser ran a 30:55 (110), Courtney Ashford came in with a time of 31:04 (111), Sarah Hyde ran a 33:23 (135) and Kami Pachner ran a 35:12 (148).
"I was basically pleased with the way we competed," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root of their efforts at the Tiger-Grizz.
"Brandon ran really well, and beat several of the people from Boise that had beaten him before, even though Boise dominated the race. It was nice seeing some different competition than what we normally run against every week."
The Tigers ran at the Middleton Invitational yesterday (Tuesday) at Purple Sage Golf Course in Caldwell, and go to the Bob Firman Invitational in Boise on Saturday.
