Fr. Bill Carroll, 81
Fr. William Patrick Carroll, 81, of Hamilton, Mont., died Tuesday Aug. 9, 2005.
Visitation and Vigil Service were held Sunday, Aug., 14, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mountain Home. Funeral mass was celebrated Monday at the church. Burial was held Monday, Aug. 15, at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.
"Father Bill" was born April 9, 1924, in New York City, N. Y., the son of William and Bessie (Lee) Carroll.
He attended school at St. Augustines, LaSalle Academy and Manhattan College. He then joined the Father's of Mercy on June 6, 1950, was ordained a priest.
He was an assistant pastor at St. Vincent DePaul in New York and was later transferred to Fulton, Kent.
After many visits with his family, he requested to be transferred to the Diocese of Boise. During his service in Idaho he was assigned as pastor in St. Anthony, Rexburg, Pocatello, Coeur d' Alene, Ketchum and Idaho Falls. He built churches in Rexburg, Chubbuck, and completed the church in Ketchum. He officially retired in 1999, and lived in Hamilton, Mont., and Sun City West, Ariz. He continued to serve the church wherever needed.
He is survived by: one sister, Rita Aguirre, two nieces, JoAnn Hoffman and Theresa Aguirre Wilson, all of Mountain Home, one nephew, Frank Aguirre of Independence, Ore., two great nieces, Regina Hoffman Flock of Boise and Kelsey Corcoran of Mountain Home and one great nephew, Brett Aguirre of Gresham, Ore., and one great-great-niece, Bridgette Lee Aguirre, and his loving canine companion "Corky."
