Tom Mashburn, 89
Thomas "Tom" Edgar Mashburn, 89, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Elmore Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 29, at the Christian and Baptist Church in Mountain Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Tom was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Sunburst, N.C., the son of William and Grizelda (Lanning) Mashburn.
When Tom was a child, his family moved to Washington.
At age 22, he met his wife, Louise Stroud. They were married on June 25, 1938. She had preceded him in death and he died on what would have been their 67th wedding anniversary.
Tom and Louise had four children, two boys and two girls. They moved from Washington to Mountain Home, then to El Dorado, Calif., then back to Mountain Home where they stayed.
During his lifetime, Tom had many occupations. He was a logger, a roofer, an ironworker, sawmill worker, and "a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend," his family noted.
Tom is survived by: his brother, Harry Mashburn of Gig Harbor, Wash.; three children and their spouses -- a son Launie D. and Kathy Mashburn of Prairie, and two daughters, Connie and Roy Mocaby of Council, and Patricia and Norman Kibe of Mountain Home, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, a son, Tom Mashburn, a grandson, Perry Mocaby, and three brothers, Frank, Ray, and Ernie Mashburn.
