Don Jarrell, Jr., 73
Carter (Don) Jarrell Jr., 73, of Mountain Home, died peacefully on June 1, 2005, at a Boise hospital, with his daughter, Cheri, and granddaughter, Rachel, at his side.
Graveside services were held Monday June 6, at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry. Services were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.
Don was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Acme, W. Va., to Carter and Ruth Jarrell, the only boy born into a family of four sisters (Catherine, Betty, Judy and his twin, Cora).
As a young man, Don was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In 1950, he joined the United States Air Force and served until 1954. While stationed in Mountain Home, he met and married his wife, Karen. They later divorced but their union produced four daughters, Jerrie, Carrie, Terri and Cheri.
After leaving the military, he purchased and operated Don's Texaco.
He served on the Mountain Home Auxiliary Police Department and was a member of the Mountain Home Jaycees.
In 1971 Don was badly injured in an accident and suffered severe head trauma. He spent the next 16 years in and out of hospitals and living with his mother, Ruth, in West Virginia. After her death, he returned to Idaho to live with his daughter, Cheri, and her children, Rachel and Scott.
Don is survived by: his four children, Jerri, Carrie, Terri and Cheri; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Both parents and four sisters preceded him in death.
