Ruth Dunn, 89
Ruth E. Dunn 89, of Mountain Home, died April 26, 2005.
Per her request no local services will be held. A memorial will be held in Kansas at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.
Ruth was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Americus, Kan., to Edgar and Frances (Wright) Tomlinson.
She grew up in Americus, Kan. with her two sisters. After graduation from high school she went on to a business college.
In 1940 she met and married Warren Dunn in Emporia, Kan., where they made their home. To that union three daughters were born. They were later divorced.
She did housekeeping and ironing for others and worked for two different grocery stores in Emporia, Kan.
She moved to Chapman, Kan., in 1973 to live with her daughter, Fran. In 1980 she moved in with her daughter Susan to help out with her granddaughter for one year. Then from 1988 to 1994 she lived with her daughter, Wilma, and her children.
In 1994 she moved with her daughter, Fran, to Mountain Home, where she made her home until her death.
"She was lovingly cared for by her daughters," her family said. "Ruth was very appreciative of all that her family had done for her. She loved everyone she met and they loved her."
She enjoyed crocheting, reading and memorizing her Bible verses or just walking to enjoying the sights of life. Most of all she enjoyed being with her grandchildren who where the joy of her life, her family noted.
She is survived by: her daughters, Frances Ellis and her husband, Gary, of Hammett, Susan Eichstaedt and her husband, John J., of Park Ridge, Ill., and Wilma Jean Wendelgass and her husband, Raymond "Smokie", of Brownwood, Texas; one sister, Josephine Haley, of Emporia, Kan.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Allen.
