Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the First Congregational Church in Mountain Home. Committal will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home.
A life-long resident of Mountain Home, she had lived at Aaron Brooke place for over five years.
Evelyn was born and raised in Rocky Bar and generally enjoyed outdoor activities more than household chores. She loved fishing, camping, growing iris, foraging for mushrooms, and collecting rocks and arrowheads.
Prior to his death in 1986, she and her husband, Cliff, liked to travel around Idaho and neighboring states in search of desert treasures. Always preferring back roads to the freeway, they provided routing challenges for Triple A. Until she moved to assisted living, she remained active in the Senior Center and the Eureka Rock and Gem Club.
In her working life, Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper for Idaho Power and then The Merc for many years.
She also enjoyed playing bridge, ceramics, tole painting and was excellent at lettering signs. She was a perfectionist in all her creative endeavors, her family noted. "A lover of music, she sang in the church choir, was a great whistler, and continued to play her childhood harmonica, even on the day she died. She was a wonderful cook, noted for her delicious pies and homemade caramels."
She is survived by: a daughter Brenda, and son-in-law Duke Charpentier of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Marjorie Garner of Mountain Home; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, a son, Larry, one sister and three brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to First Congregation Church, 515 E. 15th North St., Mountain Home, Idaho 83647.
