Nick Whiterock, 70
Lyman "Nick" F. Whiterock, 70, of Owyhee, Nev., died Saturday, April 2, 2005, in a Boise hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at the HDC Building in Owyhee. Burial will follow at Big Dick Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Nick was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Owyhee, Nev., the son of Fritz and Ida Mae (Snodgrass) Whiterock Sr.
He graduated from Swayne High School in Owyhee in 1952.
Nick was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 until 1959. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1966.
On July 3, 1981, Nick married Adrianne Shaw.
Nick worked on ranches in Utah, Montana, Nevada and Oregon. He was skilled in breaking horses. Nick was active in the rodeo circuit as a saddle bronc rider and later as a bull rider.
Nick loved animals and was a master in leatherwork. He made numerous belts, reins for horses and braided ropes.
Nick was active in the Duck Valley Jack Hanks Post #48 as an Honor Guard.
Nick loved and was proud of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his family said.
Nick is survived by: his wife, Adrianne Whiterock, of Owyhee; daughter Corinne Sampson of Nixon, Nev.; two sisters, Elouise Owyhee of Owyhee and Gloria McDonald of Gardnerville, Nev., four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
