David Benson, 30
David Randall Benson, 30, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at his residence.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 22, at the Middleton Cemetery in Middleton, Idaho. Arrangements were under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Benson, born to George R. Benson and Phyllis Anne Tennant-Gomez, attended elementary school in Middleton and Mountain Home. His high school education was completed and a GED achieved in Gridley, Calif.
Dave was a hard worker as an apprentice in the construction industry, his family said. He also enjoyed a job as a service cook in a restaurant in Donnelly. "Playstation was a great source of entertainment for this loving son," his family said. His father, George, said, "If David had a nickel to give or money to share he'd flip it."
He told his sister, Stacy Marie, that he intended to travel and see things. He especially wanted to go to the ocean, which he had never seen. "He wrote many songs and enjoyed singing them to anyone who would listen as they were inspired by his religious beliefs that any and all things comes from the Lord thy God and his all mighty power," his family said. "David is remembered in song and in prayer, as well as future songs and poems written in his memory."
David is survived by: his father, George Randall Benson; his mother, Phyllis Ann Tennant Gomez; a brother, Gary Dan Allen; a sister, Stacy Marie Allen-Coleman; a grandfather, Richard T. Curtis; a grandmother, Bessy Tennant; four uncles, four aunts and numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Benson Sr., and Delbert Tennant, and grandmothers, Betty Bowman and Pat Larsen, and an uncle, Dave Benson.
Memorial contributions can be made to David's mother, Phyllis Anne Gomez, to do as she finds fitting in helping others, 307 Cedar Dr., Mellen Subdivision, Mountain Home, ID 83647.
