Marie Blacken, 88
Marie Evelyn Blacken, 88, of Mountain Home, died Thursday March 10, 2005, at a local care center.
Memorial services will be held in Snohomish, Wash., at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home.
Marie was born on Sept. 11, 1916, in Christina, Mont., to Paul and Ramona (Davis) Donisthorpe. She was the second of five children.
Marie was raised on a ranch and married in 1932. Marie had three children: David and Ramona by her first marriage and her other son, William, by her second marriage.
Marie left Montana and went to Alaska in 1941. She left Alaska because of World War II and went to Washington, California, Louisiana, Washington D.C., Hawaii and back to Washington, where she met and married Clifton Blacken in 1953.
Marie moved to Mountain Home, Idaho in 2002 to be closer to her son, David.
She worked for many years as a waitress. In Washington she was active in the Eagles Auxiliary in the Everett area, serving in many offices including chapter president in Everett. She moved to Snohomish, Wash., when her husband, Cliff Blacken, passed away in 1989.
Marie is survived by: her two sons, David Gossett and William Hansen; her brother, Oscar Donisthorpe; her sister, Grace Longinetti; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
