Ramon Joseph Diaz, 85, of Mountain Home, died, Sunday, Feb. 5, 2005.
Memorial prayer services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Inurnment service and military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Home, followed by lunch served by the American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 26, at War Memorial Hall, 515 E. 2nd South St.
Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.
Ramon was born in Mackey, Idaho, on Oct. 10, 1919, but was raised in Mountain Home. He lived at the Basque Hotel with the Anchustegui family, after losing his mother to a fire when he was only two.
He attended school in Mountain Home and joined the Marine Corps in 1940. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1947.
He owned and operated the Royal Club for 40 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was proud of the years he spent serving his country.
Ray is survived by: his five children, Les Williams of Mountain Home, Leon Diaz, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lorraine McKinney, of Mountain Home, Tina Broome and Lennie Diaz, both of Boise; a sister, Anita Lindley of Idaho Falls; a brother, Avel Diaz, of Burns, Ore.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
