Lewis Gilbert, 69

Lewis J. Gilbert, 69, of Mountain Home, died Sunday Oct. 3, 2004, at a local long-term care unit.

Lewis was born March 18, 1935, in Oakdale, Calif., the son of Lewellyn and Alice Gilbert.

At his request no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Mountain Home.

Lewis attended schools in Oakdale. He decided to stay in California to farm until moving to Glenns Ferry in the early 1970s, where Lewis made his life in dairy farming and working for many local farmers.

Lewis enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and "just being in the outdoors," his family said. "Most of all Lewis appreciated spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Lewis was very much loved as a brother, father and grandpa."

Lewis is survived by: his daughters, Edna of Mountain Home, and Debra of Silverton, Ore.; sons, Tim of Filer, and Duwayne of Sandy, Ore.; one brother; five sisters; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
