Harriet Carother, 93
Harriet Genevieve Carother, 93, formerly of Grand View, died July 17, 2004, in Caldwell.
She requested that no formal service be held. Cremation arrangements were under direction of the Cremation Society of Idaho.
She was born to Jess and Rita Hailey in Bellevue, Idaho, on Aug. 3, 1910. She spent the first ten years of her life at the Hailey ranch on Jordan Creek and started school at Flint Creek.
In 1920 the family moved to Gresham, Ore., where Harriet graduated from Gresham High School. After graduation Harriet returned to Idaho with her family.
In 1940 Harriet married Milt Carothers and they moved to Castle Creek. In 1948 Harriet and Milt bought the Johnson place on Alder Creek and lived there and in Grand View until 1965 when Harriet moved to Caldwell.
In Caldwell, Harriet worked for Winchell's Donuts, retiring as a manager in 1980. She remained in Caldwell and maintained her life-long interest in horses and her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lorena Hailey Squire; and a brother, Milt Carothers. She is survived by her long-time friend, Emery Ratliff, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
