Bob Nilles, 61
Robert "Bob" Leroy Nilles, 61, of Bruneau, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at his home in Bruneau.
Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, May 18, at the Bruneau Cemetery. Following the services family and friends gathered at American Legion Hall Post No. 83 in Bruneau. At Bob's request a wake of celebration will be held at a later date at the American Legion Hall in Bruneau. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Bob was born May 19, 1942, in Boise, to Matt and Ada Nilles. He graduated from Borah High School in Boise and then worked for Milford Vaught and the (T Ranch) for a time.
He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, but had temporary duty assignments that included various bases in Vietnam. He served nearly four years in the Air Force.
When he returned from the service he worked for Harry Bettis in Emmett for two years. Then he moved to Bruneau where he lived for 29 years. He worked for Guthries Rancho for nine years while ranching with his brother, Walt.
Bob was the Bruneau Rodeo Grand Marshall in 2003. He was a member of Bruneau American Legion Post No. 83.
Bob is survived by: his fiance, Ida Barrett of Bruneau, and her family; his brother, Pete Nilles and wife Liz of Renton, Wash.; brother Walter Nilles of Bruneau; a niece; a nephew, and extended family and friends "who affectionately called him Uncle Bob."
Memorials may be sent to Bruneau American Legion Post No. 83.
