Burt Moore, 77
Orval Burton "Burt" Moore, 77, of Mountain Home, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at a Boise hospital.
Memorial services were held Thursday, March 11, at Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
Burt was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Perry, Okla., the son of David H. and Fanny M. (Chambers) Moore. Burt joined the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1946. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Infantry Mess Sergeant.
In 1952, Burt married Jewell Akers. They later divorced. He married Yvonne G. Deitchler-Smith in 1975.
Burt worked as District Manager for 21 years at Harbison Fisher. Prior to that he had many positions in the oil industry.
Burt enjoyed spending time with his family, growing tomatoes, fishing, hunting and cooking. Burt enjoyed talking with everyone he met about the things that meant the most to him, especially his family.
A true gentleman, Burt was an example of southern hospitality, his family said. " To Burt a stranger was only a friend he had yet to meet. While he only had four grandchildren of his own, he was adored by every child in the neighborhood."
Burt is survived by: his wife, Yvonne Moore of Mountain Home; sons Roger Moore of Sandy, Ore., Steve Moore of Farmington, Conn., Michael Smith and his wife, Ramona, of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters Lori Lenz and her husband, George, of Worland, Wyo., Christi Barber and her husband, Bret, of Pocatello; four grandchildren; sisters Evalyn Little of Plano, Texas, and Helen Lumley of Thermopolis, Wyo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Gladys Jeanne Smith, and brother Herschel Moore.
