Verna Jo McGuire, 80

Verna Jo McGuire, 80, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at a care center in Mountain Home.

No local services will be held. Funeral services will be held in Quanah, Texas, at a later date, with burial to follow in Goodlett, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Verna Jo was born May 19, 1923, in Goodlett, Texas, the daughter of Joe and Ona (Ross) Anderson.

Verna Jo worked as a clerk for the City of Quanah and at local nursing homes. In 1998 she moved from Quanah, Texas, where she had lived on the family farm for 77 years, to Mountain Home to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

Verna Jo was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Mountain Home.

She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.

Verna Jo is survived by: her daughter, Judy Dow and her husband, Don, of Mountain Home, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Juddy.
