Cecil Hampton, 87
Cecil "PaPa" L. Hampton, 87, of Glenns Ferry, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at his residence, after many years battling cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenns Ferry. Inurnment will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Cecil was born April 23, 1916, in Provo, Utah, and moved to Idaho with his parents and siblings when he was 12 years old, where he helped on the family ranch. After leaving ranch work he went to work for J.R. Simplot until retirement.
He was a member of the Owyhee Mounted Sheriff Posse for many years and was involved with the 4-H and the Three Island Riding Club. Cecil enjoyed traveling and dancing.
Cecil is survived by: his daughter, Almira A. Hampton, stepson Frank L. Hampton, and stepdaughter Beulah M. Moffett, all of Glenns Ferry, stepdaughter Carolyn J. Bruce of Vidalia, La., and numerous grand, great-grand and two great-great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews, his brother, Virgil Hampton of Gooding, and sister, Margaret Coombes, of Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 45 years, Geneva "Jan" Hampton.
