Arthur Cudmore, 85
Dr. Arthur Spargo Cudmore, 85, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, from a sudden illness.
Arthur was born Nov. 25, 1918 to Arthur and Susie Cudmore in Washington, D.C. He graduated from George Washington University with a pre-medical degree and then completed his education at the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery in Kirksville, Mo. While interning at Wilshire Hospital in Los Angeles in 1944, he fell in love with and married Berklee Brown of Mountain Home. Together they raised three children, Mark of Twin Falls, Patric of Nampa, and Dixie of Boise.
Arthur began his career in general medicine in Glennville, Ga., in 1944.
He also practiced in Tulsa, Okla., for two years. After his first visit in 1947 to his wife's home state of Idaho, which he lovingly referred to as "God's Country," he decided to move his family and his practice. Arthur practiced for 51 years until his retirement in 1998 at the age of 80.
He maintained a practice in Mountain Home for many years.
Arthur is survived by: Berklee, his wife of 59 years; Mark Cudmore, Pat Cudmore and his wife, Sandy, and Dixie Heaton and her husband Chuck, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Grace.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boise First Church of the Nazarene, 3852 N. Eagle Road, where he and his wife were members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Nazarene Church Camp in Cascade through the Boise First Church of the Nazarene.
