Matmen claw Cougars
The Mountain Home Tigers won 11 of 14 matches at Caldwell last Wednesday night, beating the Cougars 65-18 in SIC 4A conference action.
Picking up wins by pin for Mountain Home were Marcos Ortiz at 119 pounds, David Wise at 125, A.J. Hutchison at 130, Jason Greenfield at 135, James Greenfield at 140, Chris Hathaway at 145, Kori Andrews at 152, Kole Spaulding at 171, and Abel Castro at heavyweight.
Bobby Cornford won by forfeit at 103 pounds, and Kyle Hickerson won by technical fall (16-0) at 112 pounds.
Tyson Sessions (160 pounds), Anthony Johnson (189) and Charles Davidson (215) lost by pins.
"We bumped a few kids up for the match, with (Garrett) Wells out with an injury, and it worked out pretty well for us," said Tiger wrestling coach Lynn Knudson. "We had 10 pins and a tech fall and only three losses, so for the most part, it was a great effort."
The Tigers hosted Boise in a dual match last night, and go against Emmett and Buhl tonight on the mats at Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. This Friday and Saturday the Tigers go to Idaho Falls for the Tiger-Griz Tournament.
