Doris L. Bridwell, 72
Doris L. Bridwell, 72, formerly of Mountain Home, died Tuesday, Jan 13, 2004.
Doris was born May 27, 1931, in Mountain Home to Alice and Eric Kessel. She moved to Siskiyou County, Calif., in her early 20s.
In 1950, Doris married Bob Bridwell. Together they were partners in hunter safety instruction for more than 30 years. For many of those years she and Bob helped raise abandoned or orphaned deer and other animals that the Department of Fish and Game would bring to their house.
For many years Doris was an active Grange member, primarily in the women's organization. She and fellow member, Irene Campbell, teamed up to bring bingo to Gazelle, Calif.
Friends and family knew Doris had an open door to help those in need, whether it be a place to stay for a while or someone to sit and listen.
Survivors include brothers Eric and Ralph, both of Mountain Home; her children, Brenda Ferrell of Mountain Home, Denise Paulson of Fresno, Roberta "Bobbee" Stout of Anderson, Mark Bridwell of Montague, and an 'adopted daughter,' Mary Ladewig of Gazelle; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and six nephews.
A memorial service was held Jan. 17 with Pastor Lori Keyser-Boswell officiating, Inurnment followed at Evergreen Cemetery. Girdner Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
