Lady Tigers fall to Kuna in opener
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped their girls basketball SIC 4A conference opener at Kuna last Thursday night, 55-35.
The Lady Tigers shot just 25 percent from the field on the night (14 of 56), but take away the third quarter, and it was a 35-26 ball game.
Mountain Home trailed, 7-5, after a quarter, and were down 20-13 at half. A 20-point third period for Kuna stretched it to 40-22.
"The game was not real good to start with, as neither team could get anything going offensively, and we felt really good that we were right there with them," said Lady Tiger basketball coach Karen Kohring, "but our ducks weren't falling, and when you shoot 14 for 56 from the field, that isn't a good offensive production, so our offense is not helping us get points on that scoreboard so we can get a win."
Ali Hillman led the Lady Tigers with 10 points at Kuna. Shelby Wickmark scored eight points, and led the Lady Tigers in rebounds with 10. Des Walden added six points, Michelle Reynolds, five, Erica Stanton, Lauren Hicks and Christa Stanton each had two points.
The Lady Tigers are home tonight (Wednesday) in non-conference action against Skyview. Kohring hopes they can get their offense on track.
"We'll need to play them really tough, and we do have some time to work on those things we need to work on."
Mountain Home goes to Jerome on Saturday night for a non-conference game.
