Johanna Guertin, 77

Johanna Berta Guertin, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Cottages Care Facility in Mountain Home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Johanna, or Hanna as she preferred to be called, was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Eltville am Rhein, Germany, to Francis Paul Damm and Antonia Lorenz Damm.

Hanna met and married her husband of 50 years, George Guertin in Wiesbaden, Germany. George was a Medic with the 7100th Air Force Hospital Group stationed in Wiesbaden. While there Hanna and George had their first daughter, Rita Frances.

Shortly after returning stateside, they had a second daughter, Desiree Elaine, born at Fairchild AFB, Wash. Hanna, George and their daughters settled into military life and were stationed at many bases across the United States. The family finally settled in Mountain Home where George retired from the Air Force in 1971.

Hanna enjoyed her family and her home, her family said. She was accomplished in playing music by ear. She also enjoyed cooking and making up many of her own recipes.

Hanna is survived by: her husband, George; daughters Rita and son-in-law Dave Harris of Mountain Home, and Desi and son-in-law Steve Mayes of Nampa,six grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
