Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Oh boy was I a happy girl this weekend. I LOVE the snow and my son LOVES the snow. He was already in pajamas and laying in bed with a book when the snow started to stick on Saturday, but I couldn’t help but get him out of bed so we could go outside and play. I was worried it might not still be around in the morning, boy was that a joke!
The only thing that would have made me happier is if that first dumping of snow had been here in time to give a little ambience to our annual Light Parade on Friday. Okay who am I kidding, I was hoping for a white birthday clear back in Mid-November. It’s the ranch kid in me, not only do I find the snow magical, but I have a deep understanding of the importance of our snow pack each year and as we all know Elmore County desperately needs water to recharge our aquifers. That being said I am going to keep doing my “happy snow dances”even though my co-workers give me the look of death whenever I do.
Though I was more then happy to wake up to what we measured as nine inches of fresh snow in my backyard on Sunday morning I am still very aware of what a large dumping of snow in such a short amount of time can do.
There were power outages, slick roads and trees down throughout our community and tough going on the interstate. Luckily nothing too serious was reported injury wise.
I would like to thank the guys from the highway districts, the Mountain Home Street Department and Idaho Power Crews for working around the clock throughout the weekend to keep us warm and safe while mother nature did her thing.
