How to Get Your Kids to Play Outside
Nowadays, it’s hard for kids to stay away from their smartphones and computer screens. As technology improves, people increasingly become more attached to electronics. In fact, the average child spends 55 hours indoors using electronic devices on a weekly basis. The popularization of social media has brought us to the point where everything has to be recorded online. This way, kids are easily dragged into a virtual world. In order to avoid this issue and have your kids grow up more natural, you'll have to try and come up with some creative ideas.
Get a Dog
When you look back into your past, you'll notice that the moments you've enjoyed the most were the ones you've spent doing something in the name of love. Purchasing a dog can bring a lot of love into your family life. Your kids will surely be overjoyed with a new family member. Having a pet requires a lot of dedication. As the dog will demand to go outside a few times a day, your kids will have to develop new routines. This way, kids will become more social as well, since they'll face a lot of interactions with other pet owners.
Camping
One of the best ways to make your kids spend more time outdoors is by encouraging them to go camping. Be sure to organize a family trip to a destination with a lot of natural beauty. This way, not only your kids will get in touch with nature, but you'll get a quality time with your family as well. As camping will reset your sleep cycle, be sure to work on other health aspects also. For instance, hiking is a good way to maintain an active physical body whilst in nature.
Consult Your Kids
Listening to your kids will help you come up with a plan to get your kids to play outside. In order to have them spend more time outside, be sure to provide them with some fun stuff that they actually enjoy. Some kids enjoy playing catch while others enjoy riding a bicycle. Regardless of which activities your kids prefer you should consult your kids and see which activities they engage in the most.
If your kids don’t really know what they enjoy, then you'll have to get creative and think out something. For instance, electric scooters are a great way to have your kids spend more time outside.
Build a Treehouse in Your Yard
As summer arrives, your kids will certainly have a bigger tendency to spend time outside. If you want to keep them close to you, but still encourage them to spend time outside, you should consider building a treehouse. This construction activity can be joyful for families that love to spend time together. As the treehouse will offer some privacy for your children, they'll certainly enjoy more the time spent outside the house. Building a treehouse can also be useful for storing some kid's stuff in order to reduce clutter in the house.
Gradually Increase the Child's Independence
As they grow up, your kids will eventually have a desire to explore life by themselves. Allowing them to do so will increase the motivation they'll have for spending time outside. When they're free from parents, kids have a tendency to express themselves more naturally. So, be sure to reduce the supervision gradually. This means that you should allow your children to play only in your street at first.
As time passes, you should expand this area and let your kids run throughout the whole block. Organizing some after school meetups for the kids can increase their social intelligence as well. This way you won't have to worry about something bad happening to your kids when they aren’t being supervised.
