12 of the Best Gifts to Get Kids Outdoors
With the modern age of smartphones, flat screen TVs, tablets and other technology, getting the kids outside can be quite a challenge at times. However, these 12 cool outdoor gifts will have them outdoors much more often. Better yet, many of these gifts are highly affordable.
1. Trampoline
A trampoline is ideal for kids of all ages, whether five for even 16 years old. It'll also give them plenty of the vigorous exercise they need. Trampolines come in various sizes, shapes and prices, so any budget will be able to accommodate.
2. Basketball Hoop
Something as simple as a basketball hoop, and a basketball of course, can keep kids playing outside for hours on end. Two basketball hoops would be preferable to allow for a full game. Smaller basketball sets can be bought for smaller children. Others can be adjusted to different heights.
3. Swing Set
Generally speaking, swing sets are ideal for kids no older than 10. Small children, on the other hand, will absolutely enjoy a nice swing set. Some of the sets are very intricate and creative, featuring slides and even jungle gyms. They come in various themes as well.
4. Sandbox
Sandboxes are perfect for kids around six years old or younger, but older kids may find them appealing too. The little ones will spend countless hours building unique sand castles and empires. Some of the sandboxes can be quite large.
5. Bounce House
Also known as party jumpers, bounce houses can be bought at a pretty reasonable price, along with the blower. The only times that kids are able to play in these are birthday parties, so they'll absolutely love a privately owned one in the backyard. If one wanted, they could get a very intricate bounce house.
6. Playhouse
Like trampolines, playhouses come in various sizes, shapes and designs. However, they're more geared toward smaller children around four or five years old. Alternatively, one can buy multiple playhouses for the kids and make a small village.
7. Dirt Bikes
Because dirt bikes for children are much smaller, they're far more affordable than full sized ones. If the child turns out to really like riding, they may make it into a long term hobby. The child will love choosing between the various bike colors and designs.
8. Bike
Alternatively, if one doesn't like the idea of their child riding a motorized vehicle, they can always get them a simple bike. Like dirt biking, biking may turn into a long term hobby for them as well. After all, just about every child eventually learns to ride a bike.
9. Scooter
Another cool alternative to dirt bikes and bikes are scooters. What's nice about these things is that it's virtually impossible to get a flat tire on them, due to the wheels being entirely made of strong rubber. It's also slightly safer as well.
10. Kites
One can even make kites them self by using simple household materials. However, bought kites are much more durable. Either way, children will love watching their kites fly high in the sky. Fortunately, kites can be flown just about anywhere.
11. Drones
Perfect for all age groups besides really young children, drones are ideal to explore uncharted land and simulate what it's like to be a bird. Their prices range from very cheap to very expensive. A drone will be sure to keep the children up and outside.
12. Magnetic Dart Board Set
Darts are a great fun game for kids to play and practice their skill. Better yet, one won't have to worry about safety issues because of the harmless, flat magnetic tips. They can even compete with each other and make a point system.
There are literally hundreds of other toys and gifts that one can get their children to encourage more outdoor activity, all without breaking the bank or wallet. It doesn't matter what age the child is or what activity they like, as there's always a gift out there that will click with them.
