God Bless America!
"God Bless America". "Land that I love."
There are very few songs in this world that can bring tears to my eyes as easily as, "God Bless America or the Star-Spangled Banner."
America is still special and anyone who tries to tell you any different hasn't felt the tug of wonder and elation that our flag brings to your heart as the colors pass you by on the street.
On Wednesday; strip away the thousand voices that clamor each and every day for your undivided attention. Find a quiet place to absorb our rich history and contemplate what your life might have been like if we had remained part of a kingdom instead of a Republic.
I rejoice in the fact that I am here by divine design and not by chance. That my ancestors were a part of creating and defending this great Nation called America.
Your ancestors may not have come on the Mayflower or signed the Declaration of Independence; but they worked hard to be here in the Land of Opportunity. They expected to follow the laws of the land in order to become a citizen.
Sometimes we take this for granted because some of us have never known what it would be like to live in a war zone or to have a dictator.
We don't know what it is like to live in a refugee camp or a bombed out building scrounging for food. We can attend the church our choice and vote and speak our piece without worry of punishment or imprisonment.
I am thankful that God has blessed America. I am thankful that I live here in this great country. I am thankful for a group of men and women who were inspired to defy a King so that I could venture my opinion without fear.
Many sacrifices have been made on our behalf as Americans. Our military has most certainly paid the highest price of all.
God has indeed--blessed America!
