Idaho Trip

The highlight of my trip was meeting some fellow bloggers!

I believe that life is always sweeter when there are events to look forward to. My trips to Idaho are always filled with anticipation and excitement.

For the 2nd year in a row, I was able to take two of my grandchildren with me. They were as excited as I was to see everyone again, especially their "Grandma Betty".

This trip was even more exciting because I was able to meet a few of my "blogging" buddies for the first time. Thank you Jessie for your warm hospitality! Next time, I hope to meet Roy and possibly even MsM!

I had a new camera and was able to take many pictures. Some of them very good and a few very bad ones! I will need to consult with Brenda or someone on how to post several pictures at a time for my blogs so that I can share the really good ones with you.

My week was filled with "precious moments by the grandchildren and enjoying my mother's company. There is just something nice about having a quiet morning with the people that you love. The first morning was not too lovely though. Nathaniel and KaeLynn woke up at 5:15 a.m., and refused to go back to bed. I was tired! So I sent them upstairs as soon as I heard footsteps overhead. My Uncle Leon had the pleasure of two youngsters to grace his solitaire game before sunrise.

On Sunday, a group of us went to Bruneau for their Cowboy Christmas Bazaar. My mother had given each of the kids a little money to pick something out. Nathaniel is a very decisive child when it comes choosing something. We hadn't looked around too long, before he spotted a child-size lariat. I asked him what he was going to do with it and without hesitation, he said," I am going to save people with it." KaeLynn found a necklace and ring as well as a feathery hair band.

On Monday, the kids and I took a drive around all the old places and I took several pictures, including a new one of the Petrified Watermelon Sign. We had a nice lunch at the Stop Drive-In, where KaeLynn experienced the wonders of french fry sauce that is not readily available in Missouri. She liked it so much, that she drank what was left in the little paper cup. We walked around town and enjoyed the beautiful day.

I think that my mother was as excited as I was about meeting my blogging friends. I think I could have talked her into going with me, if she didn't already have company. Oh well, there is always next time.

Since my dad's passing, I am in charge of the turkey for Thanksgiving. He always smoked it and had several mysterious concoctions for basting. This year, we couldn't find the large roaster pan, so a much smaller one had to do. I fill the cavity with Apple Cider and because we had it, some Blackberry Cordial and various spices and Liquid Smoke. We baked it in the oven in a cooking bag and it was both tender and moist! I love Apple Cider!

I don't think that we had as many kids this year as we did last year, but the day was beautiful and warm and the little kids were able to play outside. The horses and cows closest to the house got extra helpings of hay from several tiny hands this year. Nathaniel kept referring the horse and cow pens as going to the "farm".

So, I got my mountain fix for another season. Back to Missouri with and home! I cherish all the moments that I get to share with my mom. I enjoyed meeting new friends! My grandchildren got to meet a few of their cousins and play their hearts out.

So, next year, if God is good, I will be able to take my other grandchild to meet his cousins and his Grandma Betty. I sure hope so. It would be even more wonderful if David could go with me and we could take them all!

I am grateful for the new friends that I was able to meet. I am so thankful that my grandchildren had the experience of their Grandma Betty and their "dozens" of cousins. And most of all, I am so thankful for my husband David who is so generous and good to me.
