“Get Me a Beer, Edith!”
When I was back in D,C, last year, I saw a few things I had always planned on seeing before I died, but there was also something I had NOT planned on, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the visit.
It was raining pretty hard when I left the motel to catch the Metro into the D.C. complex. (you've already seen the Arlington shots in an earlier blog). You can see my little yellow VW out there in that parking lot, though--------yep-------all the way to D.C. & back!
If you're a Marine, the Iwo Jima Memorial is an absolute MUST if you're back there.
.......and so is the Wall.....................................
Upon closer inspection, the "Spirit of St. Louis" is NOT something that I'D have flown across the Atlantic!
The red Waco was once owned by Amelia Earhart. The other one is the one that started it all.......the Wright Flyer.
The Smithsonian Museum complex is huge, and it would take the better part of a week (which I didn't have), to really see it all, but in one of the many museum buildings, I found something I did NOT expect to see...........and if you own a television set, you've seen these two chairs, the table, the beer can and the cigar ashtray..................
And you'd have to be a REAL "Meathead" or "Dingbat" not to recognize it!
