Stop Shooting Yourself In The Foot
It really is true that it only takes a few knuckleheads to ruin things for everyone. If ANY faction of people were ever "painted with a broad brush", it's gun owners.
When you pull up to a stop sign out in the county someplace, or by a distant set of railroad tracks, and that stop sign is shot full of holes, WE know it was the work of ONE guy & maybe a buddy of his.
To a lot of the public who pull up to that same sign........we "ALL" do it------therefore, all guns "need to be banned, and taken from everyone."
Why do some feel it is "necessary" to bring an old television set or computer out there someplace, shoot it up, and just LEAVE it there? I've seen chairs, COUCHES and even refrigerators left out in some of those "deserted areas", where it's usually more trouble to haul them clear out THERE, than it would have been just to take it to the DUMP.
Like the people who toss trash out the windows of their cars. What do they think? Do they think that God goes around all over the world picking up after them?
Well, let me tell ya.......trash on the road is bad enough, but may I enlighten my "fellow shooters" out there, that leaving garbage lying around at a "shooting spot" is far worse than tossing a soda cup out the window on a hghway someplace.
Someone OWNS the land you are shooting on. Usually the BLM, and THEY don't have the time or manpower to clean up after you EITHER. What they DO have time to do, is close an area and post the REST of us OUT of there if all we're gonna do is go in there and TRASH the place.
When you're out there "plinking", and teaching your wife or kids how to shoot and safely handle firearms, you must remember that from U.S. Senators to local liberals, there are people who have dedicated their CAREERS to take away your rights if they can. So it's important to NOT give them anything to "chew on."
If you don't like shooting at paper targets (which is a REQUIREMENT for proper sight-in), then just save up your old 1-gallon milk jugs, fill them up with water, and take THEM with you as targets when you go out.
A bursting water jug makes a much more "spectacular" hit than putting a bullet through an old tv set and leaving glass strung out everywhere.
When I'm sighting-in a gun for its first time, I take my old home-made target stand out there, get some rounds "on-paper", make my sight adjustments until the holes are all centered up where they need to be. Then I put the stand, target & all, back in the truck.
A homemade stand is easy to make, and just a few dollars worth of wood, or if you don't even want to spend THAT much, you can just mask-tape your paper target to a cardboard box!. Just take it with you when you LEAVE to go home.
Paper targets get pretty boring after a gun is sighted-in......you want to see some RESULTS......
Use the WATER JUGS, which USED to be gallon jugs of milk that you were going to throw out ANYWAY! Why not have a little fun with them?? Whether punching little "22" holes thrugh them and watching the water run out like a sieve......or pounding it with a big 45-70 and seeing the water fly EVERYWHERE.......it's a lot of fun!
THEN....you just pick up what's left of the now EMPTY jugs, toss 'em in your vehicle and throw them in the trash when you get home.
Pop cans and old beer cans are fun too, and the smaller the caliber of gun you're using, they longer they last while you bounce them around!
Just remember to take them WITH you when you leave. You know.........you might have found the "perfect place" to shoot. It would be a real shame if it was CLOSED OFF the next time you wanted to use it!
The nearest range, (that you have to DRIVE 35 miles and PAY TO USE when you get there, is Black's Creek.....and then there's a "PAY" INDOOR range in Boise.
But if that's what you'd PREFER to do............
It's hard enough as it is trying to FIND a good place to shoot these days, without making it even TOUGHER on ourselves. Having to deal with the liberals is bad enough.
Without exception............when the old Bazookaman goes out to shoot (and I go as often as I can), the only way you'd know I'd been out there at all, is by the tire tracks from whatever I drove that morning. The only thing I ever leave out there is the water from the exploded jugs. (and water is GOOD for the land).
Pop cans, remains of the plastic milk jugs, and empty shell casings come home with me.
If I didn't TELL you.....you'd never know I'd been out there.
Because of the open discrimination against gun owners everywhere....we ALREADY have to live a little "cleaner" than the rest of society. An accidental discharge of a weapon automatically brings a lot more media heat upon the rest of US, than a drunk driver does when he runs a busload of kids off the road.
We get ridiculed and attacked in the press by the same hypocrites who smoke themselves to death with their "cancer sticks" and freely climb into their cars after a night of "bar-hopping" and weave up & down the public roads...............
But if YOU own a GUN???? A GUN??????
You're automatically some kind of dangerous pervert who gets his kicks from slaughtering "Bambi's mother"
The Feds tax cigarettes.
They Tax Alcohol
But they would TAKE......TAKE....your guns if they thought they could, and there's enough legislation and ATTEMPTED legislation on RECORD to back up what I just said.
And ALL of it has been from the left.
So guys......be SAFE out there, and please show some STEWARDSHIP skills over public land.
The anti-gun freaks out there come up with ENOUGH lies and slander on their own. Let's not actually GIVE them something!
And guys...........use a good dirt-mound backstop, where no bullet is gonna get away and "zing" over somebody's picnic a half-mile away.
Pardon the pun....but let's not shoot ourselves in the foot!
