Confessions of a Free Man

It's Thursday morning, June 9th. Donna's off today and sometime after she gets up this morning, she has indicated she wants to take the truck & head for the hills today, which suits me, as I always look forward to getting out of here for awhile.

We'll probably hike, then come back into the "civilization" of Fall Creek or Pine for a late lunch before heading home.

Going into the woods where the animals sometimes get a little larger than man, I'l be leaving my "coveted" 357's behind, and pack one of the 44 Magnums, and it just makes me think of how good it is, not only to have a CHOICE of weapons, but having a CHOICE AT ALL.

There are a LOT of countries on this planet where you cannot even THINK about owning a firearm (and a lot of THOSE nations are under dictator rule). When only the "police and the military" are armed.........YOUR BUTT belongs to THEM. You are a citizen, not a subject. There IS a difference.

I'm glad I was born and raised HERE. Even with all of our problems, I can't think of anywhere ELSE I'd want to live, given the option.

And if it all "goes south" and there is a panic, followed by an attempted "police state" by THIS government or some OTHER government, they're in for a huge surprise, because there are too many modern day "Davy Crocketts" out here, and those who WOULD enslave us, have waited far too long. This is ONE time that it's GOOD that Washington can't do anything in a timely manner!

I'm going to use Barack Obama as an example here.....not because I want to pick on him, but because what I'm about to say is both FACTUAL and relative..........

With VERY few exceptions, every piece of anti-gun legislation ever introduced or passed in this country has been founded by Democrats, including Clinton's "assault weapons ban", (which cost him HIS CONGRESS in '94. The liberals have always had this grand illusion that taking guns from GOOD people will somehow protect us all from the BAD people.

Now, keep in mind that the CRIMINAL ELEMENT is NOT going to follow any new anti-gun laws, anymore than it has followed the OLD ones. If there ever IS a "mandatory----turn 'em in" law........the only ones who would ever be dumb enough to OBEY it, would be some of the HONEST folks. Not everyone will stand on their Constitutuional rights and say "NO!" But there'll be more than enough who WILL, though, and the government doesn't want to deal with that.

Back to Obama......and the "example." Right wingers as a rule, do not just take what they're told as gospel, then go in and vote as "the party says." They take the time to check things out for themselves first. Same with Independents.

In the gun world, ANY DEMOCRAT running for high office is thoroughly background-screened on gun rights, because of their party's HISTORY on the subject. Not all of them ARE anti-gun......but MOST have proven to be, right along with the RINO's in OUR party. Trust NOBODY these days........they'll sell you out in a minute!

SENATOR Obama......voted for a handgun ban, a hunting ban, a 500% sales tax on ammunition, no gun stores within FIVE MILES of a school, he introduced a bill in Illinois, whereas if a homeowner used a firearm to stop an intruder in his OWN HOME.....it would be HE that was prosecuted! Can you believe that?

This made Obama an AUTOMATIC "NO" with anyone who took their gun rights seriously.

No......there ARE other issues besides just "gun rights"..........but WITHOUT gun rights, there is no way to protect the REST of them, and world history has proven THAT time and again. We are still SEEING that......other nations are having to TEAR LIBYA APART to rid them of Khadaffi.

Ok.........we're watching Obama, and are REALLY watching the congressional races, because even if he wins, as long as we have a Republican Congress, he won't be able to touch our guns.

Well...as you know, that didn't happen. The Dems took it all, and on the morning after the election, it got CRAZY in gunstores all over America. Sales went UP immediately, and so did the price of ammo. You were paying 40 bucks for "brick" of 22's that you WERE paying $13.00 before the election. Fact.

Manufacturers hiked THEIR prices too, in the event of potential shutdowns after Inaugeration Day.

Now...chances ARE, even with a totally majority in D.C., going against the 2nd Amendment has been proven to be the "kiss of death" for a Senator or Congressman.......but this was a special subject right now.

Whether the Dems WOULD or not......the fact remained that they COULD, if they so desired. Those old anti-gun crocks could write up any kind of new gun laws they wanted to, and would now have the most ANTI-GUN president in HISTORY up there to sign it!

Nobody on our side knew for sure what was going to happen, but neither was anyone taking any chances. Within 2 weeks, the ammo shelves in most gunstores looked like "Old Mother Hubbard's Cupboard." If you favored a 9mm or 380......ammunition WASN'T to be had.

To ADD to the anxiety among the handloaders, the Department of Defense made an IMMEDIATE purchase of over 20 million PRIMERS, thus quickly emptying the shelves of THOSE.

There was cause for concern, via sheer timing alone.

At the first Fairgrounds gunshow in Boise I attended after the election, the line stretched clear out into the parking lot. INSIDE, on one of the many tables that there always are.....one vendor had a framed photo of Barack Obama, with the caption pasted on it that said "Gun Salesman of the Year!"

This scene was being played out all over the country. When it caught the attention of the mainstream media, they naturally worked the "race card" into it, hinting that "all the REDNECKS" were stocking up because a "black man" had just been elected, and they were trying to get the public thinking that "assassination" might be looming......etc.

We KNEW THAT was coming.

This was about age-old AGENDA, not color.......but they ran with that anyway, like they STILL DO TODAY.

The immediate surge of soaring prices for guns & ammo, didn't effect me to any great degree. I'd seen the "handwriting on the wall" since the "Slick Willie" days, as have about half of us. I already had what I would need, but a lot of others had to go into their pockets pretty deep. Whatever you DIDN'T have, you at least had until Inaugeration Day to get it.

Well folks, they have NOT made an attempt to "Confiscate" (admittedly, a lot of us hoped they WOULD, and still do)......which is probably why they HAVEN'T............but THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE TIME........two years to do whatever they wanted........and not enough GOP votes to stop ANYTHING.

We'll never know for sure, but I'm sure it was discussed back there, and he was probably advised that with the country already in trouble, the LAST thing they needed was another "Civil War", and you can rest assured, it WOULD have been. Americans traditionally don't like being pushed around or told what to do.

And this is the reason for "all those guns out there" as the libs like to "fear-provoke."............nobody's wanting to "gang-up on, attack, and take over" that cess-pool back there in D.C. There isn't some secretly-organized army of Confederate flag carrying, tobacco chewing "Rebels" looking to march on Washington.

We all know OUR "turf" better than THEY do........so IF "martial law" ever DOES happen......they're gonna have to come to US.....in OUR backyard and try it "door-to-door". They don't want to do that.

Like his generals told Hitler when they discussed Switzerland......."It ain't worth the cost." (For those who might not be aware.......Switzerland is a country where gun ownership is MANDATORY, and the crime rate is basically ZILCH....even today.)

Make no mistake though........the left would love nothing MORE than to disarm this country. an unarmed populace offers little resistance.

The ONLY reason they HAVEN'T tried it, is because they're afraid now. Too MANY of us ARE "ON" to them (in all "fifty") and are totally prepared, should it happen.

If they thought for a minute they actually COULD.......they'd try it.

If the LIBS had THEIR way......I'd probably have been left for dead out on Orecon State 20 back in '74 (you may recall reading my earlier blog on that-----it's in the archives).

I like being a free man, and will never give that up. You have to travel and/or LIVE in a foreign country sometimes, to understand what freedom truly is........so that's why I get so fired up, when I see our OWN politicians trying to chip-away at it from time to time.

I get even MADDER though when I see common citizens, who SHOULD know better.....just....."go with the flow", like somehow....."it's all good"......it'll all come out in the end..........

Maybe that's what some of the Jews thought too, as the train pulled into Auswitz.

But here in Mountain Home, it's looking like it'll be a pretty day. If we CHOOSE, we'll go to the hills. I'll CHOOSE which gas station to fill up at, it'll be our CHOICE which road to take and to WHERE......we'll CHOOSE how far to go, when to come back or even IF we come back today.......

And being an AMERICAN......I get to CHOOSE which one to take this morning.....the Smith & Wesson or the Ruger.

It's always better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Oh....PS.......Obama hasn't gone after anything in the states yet, but not long after he took over, he DID stop the sale of surplus M-1 Garands coming BACK to the U.S. from South Korea. Although they would have HAD to legitimately go through FFL dealers, the President felt they "might fall into the wrong hands"

Well...........South Korea is going to sell those old American-Made rifles to SOMEBODY............

Where would you RATHER they have gone?...........to AMERICAN collectors?.................or to................

Yes, they ALL need to go..............starting with HIM.
