Beverly Hills Chihuahua
Who ever came up with the idea of giving chihuahuas their own movie is a fool, especially after seeing Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Granted this is a great movie for kids, but unless you're 14 years old or younger, this movie was just flat out terrible.
In the movie, pampered chihuahua Chloe voiced by Drew Barrymore, gets lost in Mexico, befriends a German Shepherd voiced by Andy Garcia and discover a lost chihuahua civilization. On the search for Chloe is Rachel (Piper Perabo), the niece of Chloe's owner played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Papi, the landscaping chihuahua who falls head over paws for Chloe.
The last movie that displayed the personification of dogs was Underdog, a movie that was deemed another critic flop, but I liked it, because I was familiar with the cartoon and I thought the movie lived up to the original cartoon.
This movie pushed the stereotype button, a little much including the coyote who takes dogs across the border and chicken fights with dogs playing the chickens.
I can't really pick out a positive in this film, because there wasn't, at all.
However, as far as my score, yes it is harsh, but I want to note that this is a definite "4 Reels" movie for kids.
Well you've read my review, now here's what fellow critics nine year old Gabriel Martinez and fourteen year old Ritchie Martinez-Doyle thought of Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
