The Dark Knight
There is only word to describe "The Dark Knight", EPIC. Director Christopher Nolan brings you the second tale in the revised Batman saga, with most of the cast returning for this sequel including Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), Michael Caine (Alfred) and Christian Bale reprising the role that he so successfully portrayed in 2005's "Batman Begins".
A new addition to the cast was Maggie Gyllenhall, taking over the role of Bruce Wayne's love interest Rachel Dawes played in "Batman Begins" by Katie Holmes.
In The Dark Knight, Batman is teamed with Gordon and new district attorney Harvey Dent (Harvey 2 Face) played by Aaron Eckhart to help maintain order in Gotham City, until the city is taken over by the villainous Joker played by the late Heath Ledger.
It's hard for a movie now a days to live up to such a hype, The Dark Knight truly lived up to the hype and in my view is a comic book classic. The action sequences were superb, the story was told so brilliantly even in a more darker turn than Batman Begins and with an ending that not to give anything away but I feel is the perfect segue to the original 1989 film.
Bale, one of today's finest actors pulls off the caped crusader better than Keaton, Clooney and Kilmer could ever do and Heath Ledger, pulls off a Joker that surpassed even what the great Jack Nicholson portrayed in the original Batman film.
Overall, I was blown away by the Dark Knight, definitely the best summer movie of 2008.
