(DVD review) National Treasure 2 Book of Secrets
I just want to go on record and say when will Hollywood get the hint, some movies just don't need to have sequels. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets is no exception.
In the film, there are sharp comedic moments and great "Ronin" like car chases, but the film just seemed to be too similar to the first. I though the universal rule with sequels is to be different/better than the original.
In National Treasure 2, Nicolas Cage is back as Ben Gates who seeks to prove the innocence of his ancestor who was rumored to be involved in the assassination of President Lincoln.
In this search, he joins back up with his dopey sidekick Riley (Justin Bartha), his girlfriend Abigail (Diane Kruger), and his father Patrick (Jon Voight).
New additions to the cast were Helen Mirren (Ben Gate's mother) and Ed Harris (a descendant of a Lincoln assassination conspirator).
It's a shame, that a strong cast was put to waste.
