Top 10 Worst Movies of 2009 (1-5)
5. Law Abiding Citizen
(Note, that this won't be the first time Gerard Butler makes this list.) Now going into this movie, I had the conception this was a revenge story, where Butler is a character who avenges the death of his wife and child, but turns from hero to villain and corrupt DA Jamie Foxx pursues him to bring him to justice. It's almost like the storyline got even more twisted as the movie progressed, as Butler's character was believable but Foxx was rather weak, a shame because he is known for his strong performances.
4. Observe and Report
When I saw 40 Year Old Virgin, I thought Seth Rogen was the next big thing in comedy, Knocked Up, a classic, but this movie, which is basically a clone of an upcoming movie on this list, was so unfunny and ridiculous I almost walked out and I never do that.
3. Crank 2: High Voltage
Jason Statham, is a very underrated action star, I was a big fan of the first Transporter film, not so much the second and third movies, but the first one was great. Crank was a high adrenaline thrill ride, that almost went too fast for the viewers to keep track, Crank 2 was even more faster and senseless, I lost interest halfway through including the final battle scene where Chev Chelios retrieves his stolen heart from the Japanese triad who took it from him after he fell to his supposed death in the first film.
2. Gamer
Another Gerard Butler film on this list, and yet even more worse than Law Abiding Citizen, in the film Butler plays the top interactive soldier in a simulated live action video game that runs a muck led by crazed inventor Michael C. Hall. The game also spreads into modern day life as a twisted version of the SIMS where Butler's character's wife played by Amber Valetta portrays one of the interactive characters. I don't dare continue because this movie was that horrible.
1. Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Most people I know would disagree with me on this selection, but this movie was just outright dumb, the story was a joke, the comedy was non existent and man I feel sorry for Kevin James he had such a promise coming out of King of Queens and yet now he starred in two comedic bombs Blart and I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry. Observe and Report, was clearly the same movie as Paul Blart, but Blart gets the distinction of my worst movie of 2009.
DISHONORABLE MENTION: (Movies that missed the cut)
1. The Ugly Truth
2. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard
3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
4. Hotel For Dogs (This movie was featured on last year's Worst list, but I found out was an '09 movie).
5. Funny People
6. Adventureland
Check out Wednesday, where I'll name my top 10 films of the year and present the fans of Mountain Home choice for Top 10 Movies of 2009.
