That answer is .....ratings
"Survivor", "Fear Factor", "Big Brother" all television shows that have set a precedent in the world of reality television.
Then Fox came up with "Moment of Truth," a game show where contestants take a lie detector test of 21 highly personal questions and for every answer they are truthful, they could win up to $500,000.
Personally, I am a fan of the show, I have always been a fan of reality television, but this is a show that makes you wonder, "Has Reality TV gone too far?"
When I grew up, the game shows I watched was Press Your Luck and Price Is Right, neither show asked the contestants questions you'd most likely hear on Maury or Jerry Springer.
I guess, that's the sign of the times. Gone are the days where you could win money on a game show for knowing the Best Picture at this year's Oscar's or who won last year's World Series (No Country For Old Men and the Boston Red Sox, for those playing at home).
Never before has a contestant been put through the emotional ringer, than being on this show. It's where your almost rooting against the contestant for being so truthful, thus negating host Mark L. Wahlberg's line at the beginning of every episode, "Is there an honest person left in America?"
The first season of the show has concluded. The second season kicks off on May 27.
