The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
Apparently it takes more than sharing a name to make a marriage work
Kelly Hildebrandt is divorcing Kelly Hildebrandt.
The pair met on Facebook in 2008 when she decided to run her name though the site's search function while bored one night and discovered he was the only other person that shared her name.
She sent him a message that said hi. The two traded emails, then phone calls, then met in person three weeks later at her home in Florida. Then he married her, because that's what almost any guy would do if a pretty girl he didn't know randomly Facebook stalked him and said hi.
The two have apparently discovered that it takes more than having the same name in common to make a marriage work. Their divorce is pending in Florida and they have "no hard feelings" towards each other.
"You're name is Kelly? AND his/her name is Kelly, too?!? AND you have the same last name, too?!?" jokes can only be funny for so long (about five years in this case), just ask Taylor and Taylor.
"She's a Florida girl, and I'm a Texas guy," he said. "We really did come from pretty different worlds." She is from Coral Springs, Fla. He is from Lubbock, Texas.
One bright side of marrying someone with your last name is that it makes changing your name after the marriage ends much easier to do, regardless if you share a first name or not. It also saves you from having to decide which party is going to change their name. Unfortunately, you also have to listen to about 1,400 people tell the same lame joke about how the guy took the girl's name.
However, marrying another Kelly Hildebrandt doesn't seem to be in the male Kelly Hilderbrandt's cards any time soon.
Should he change his mind, there are 18 other people with the same name currently on Facebook, with at least 13 of them women. He won't have to worry about running into the same Kelly Hildebrandt again. She has since either removed her profile or set her profile to private. (You can however Facebook stalk him and his pictures if you choose too.)
The pair does not have any children together. Female Kelly let her ex-husband-to-be keep his dog.
